Wednesday Mzansi Magic invited us to the launch of their new telenovela called The Road. The cast and production company alone is the reason I honoured the invite so off my partner and I went to Joburg CBD. The drive was so scenic guys, I for the first time felt like I was in Ay-freak-ha! #TIAvaarbz
The Road is a telenovela about a love affair written from the memories of an old man and narrated in modern day. Set against the backdrop of iconic Sophiatown, the endearing love story starts with a journey that is intertwined with the dramatic threads of history, a thrilling world of music, danger, politics and romance.
The Road sees the beautiful singer Stella and talented writer Themba as star crossed lovers longing to be together, but only destiny will tell if they end up in each other's arms.
So upon descending at the venue, you already felt like you were peeping into what the 50's was like. Totally loved that theme because I am such an old soul. Again, I didn't take photography at school so my pics are average at best but you kinda get the idea hawu.
Cava the automobile.
Take 2!
CEO of M-Net, Yolisa Phahle took to the stage to talk about the company's long term view on investing in local productions. No lie, they are not sleeping on these Mzansi streets.
There were so many celebrities there, but I was busy being one myself so didn't snap any of them. Askies, next time I will do better fam.
Pic below is the cast and crew on stage. Because I'm working of my memory and not the pic quality, you can spot abo SK Khoza, Thembisa Mdoda, Lerato Mvelase, and that hot Duma from Isibaya who works for mhlonitshwa.
The theme was immaculately executed, I wish my camera was not such an epic fail.
The band fam... Ahh man, I want to go back and live in the 50's.
Ran into my media family, Rhode from Powerfm and Hopewell from Drum magazine.
The Road premiers on Monday 31 August on DStv Channel 161 at 19:30.
